Ouch, ouch, ouch. I only get migraines very, very rarely, but I've had the worst one yet ever since Thursday night. Today, for the first time since then, I've felt better enough for a couple of very, very brief sessions on the computer - just long enough to type in revisions to one story, send it out, start to write some of the emails I owe, and then give up in face of my head's VERY pointed protests. So I'm getting back off again now, but just wanted to let everyone know - I swear I'm not ignoring emails, it just really, really hurts to look at a computer screen right now.
Back soon, I hope!
Back soon, I hope!

1) Ice bags/wraps. Cool washcloths don't help me much...and ice stays cool much longer. Back in the day, I'd put ice in freezer baggies and then use a washcloth or something to protect me from the humidity.
I use one of the wraps here that I can freeze.

2) Sleep. Honestly, I sometimes feel guilty for, er, sleeping during the day, but good rest is one of the best things for dealing with headaches (there's research that suggests migraineurs don't get good sleep). Besides, you need extra rest now anyway. ;-)
3) Audiobooks. I love something to distract me from my pain, but I often can't read. However, someone can read to me through audiobooks/podcasts. I can turn the volume down and...well, sometimes I get read to sleep (see treatment #2).
4) Eating certain things seemed to help a bit. I actually like nibbling on crushed ice. It's soothing to my stomach and it seems to help with the head pain, too.
5) Kiki's Delivery Service. The Miyazaki movies are so much quieter than a lot of other movies... :-)
I don't know if any of my treatments will help you considering how individual migraines are, but I wanted to throw them out there on the off chance they might help.
Good luck!
